Connect Young People to Their World

Annual tree planting for all young people in our community
Every year over 3 weeks in November, we support 1000 young people aged 5-18, through their Schools and Colleges, to plant trees in their community.
In 2011, Tree Nursery Beds were built in over 20 local schools. In November 2012, the first 1000 trees were planted by the first 1000 children in what is now known as Harmony Woods and the annual tree planting day for local school children was born.
Ten yeas later, in March 2022, the final trees were planted at the Harmony Woods site by children representing most of the partner schools who had helped to make the idea become a reality - 10000 trees planted by 10000 children over 10 years. Since November 2022, with Harmony Woods no longer able to accommodate tree planting in such large numbers, a partnership with Test Valley Borough Council has allowed the annual children’s tree planting to continue at the new Bury Hill Meadows and Nature Reserve.

All costs for transporting the children to the planting site are met by Andover Trees United. Fundraising for this is ongoing. You can make a Donation.

Opportunities for pure fun and enjoyment come through Amanda’s programme of Tall Tales & Seasonal Stories, while older children can combine fun with exploration at the monthly Nature Club, working alongside our bug-loving Ecology Intern.
A Membership Scheme for Ages 4+ brings young people into a family of people who care passionately about their world.

By Volunteering or joining the monthly Explore the Wild events, led by this year’s intern Kanchi, you will meet like-minded people who enjoy nature, the arts and spending time outside (though this can depend on the weather!).
Give Nature a Home
By planting trees and hedges, helping with the Disappearing Wildflowers project or learning traditional land management techniques, many opportunities exist for us to provide homes for wildlife.
