MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS

Gemma and Elsie
''I joined Andover Trees United because I love trees and want to learn to take care of them. Before, I was trying to learn by myself but joining the team has given me lots of experience and knowledge. I think it is a great opportunity for anyone who loves trees and nature, you can learn so much and help to make a difference in our community ''

~ Elsie

''Elsie is passionate about trees and I wanted to help her to not only learn about trees but to get involved with a local project. After speaking with a work colleague, I decided to contact Andover Trees United to see if Elsie could come along to a community day. We planted wild flower seeds at the allotment and Elsie has been keen ever since. Andover Trees is a fantastic place for people of all ages and abilities to learn about nature conservation around the local area, everybody we have met is so friendly and encouraging.''

'SOUNDS FROM SOIL'

'Sounds from Soil' invites participants into a playful and sensory experiment where the land becomes both a speaker and a canvas. Sound artist Justin Wiggan will lead two experimental workshops and a public talk that explore how bio-sonification technology reveals the hidden sonic world of soil.

Through hands-on experimentation and a creative reflection activity using soil graffiti, participants will deepen their connection to the land beneath their feet.

Two Experimental Workshops: 27th (afternoon) & 28th August (morning)
  • Listen to the live sounds of soil and discuss how they differ
  • Explore questions like: What does a healthy ecosystem sound like? How does human impact e.g. pollution or pressure from footfall change the earth’s voice?
Public Artist Talk performance: 27th August (evening)
  • "The Earth Has a Voice"

Details are still being worked out with regard to venues, though we do know that the Wednesday afternoon workshop will be in The Diamond Wood

To express and interest in attending and to be sent details as we work them out, please contact abbey.sadler@andovertrees.org.uk
