This Bioblitz is part of the Andover Trees United annual Walks, Talks & AGM 9:45 - 12:00 with lunch 12:15-1:00. We hope you will stay for the whole event.
Who is the Nature Club for?
Young people who want to explore, discover and get hands-on with nature - while having their ideas, opinions and discoveries heard and valued.
Ages: 12–15 years
Keen and enthusiastic 11-year-olds may also be accepted.
Time: 10:00am–12:30pm
Sessions take place in the Diamond Wood alongside ATU's monthly Second Saturday activities - starting October 10th.
Tree Ents & Skylarks is an opportunity to be heard
Tree Ents & Skylarks is a year-long nature adventure where you'll train towards becoming a Junior Forester, explore the Diamond Wood, learn practical woodland skills and discover more about the wildlife and habitats around you. You'll share your discoveries, ask questions and help shape the future of how we care for our natural spaces.
Your views matter. We want to hear your ideas about how we can better understand, manage and protect nature. We want to put you in touch with other like-minded young people.
Over the course of a year, October to September, the 12 sessions are split into two 6-month blocks:
Autumn & Winter: Tree Ents (October to March) - Discover how woodland changes through the colder months, plant trees, learn about woodland management and the wildlife that calls the Diamond Wood home in winter.
Spring & Summer: Skylarks (April to September) - Watch nature come alive, learn about habitats and discover the incredible plants, insects and animals that emerge throughout spring and summer.
Each seasonal block will also culminate in a special camp out in the wood, celebrating everything you have achieved together.
The Junior Forester Award, validated by The Royal Forestry Society, will be presented at ATU's Annual General Meeting in September following completion of the year's programme. You'll also have the opportunity to help lead a woodland walk that you have prepared, sharing your knowledge and discoveries with others.
Costs
FREE to ATU Junior Members
£30 per seasonal block of six sessions for non-members
Payment is made in advance for each six-session block and includes the end-of-season camp out.
