Join Us! Youth Activities Officer Wanted For Andover Trees United
Location: Andover, Hampshire (mix of home working, outdoor work, and in schools)
Hours: Part-time, 16 hours/week
Contract: April 2026 – March 2027
Salary: £12.21 per hour
We are looking for a Youth Activities Officer to deliver nature-based activities for children and young people across our community-led environmental education and conservation programmes. This role offers experience in environmental education, youth engagement, horticulture, and community projects.
You will support the planning and delivery of activities for children and young people, including school visits and community events. You will also support the admin and delivery of projects such as wildflowers in schools, Between the Barrows community archaeology, and tree planting weeks. The role involves working closely with ATU staff, volunteers, and external practitioners, as well as supporting the evaluation, monitoring, and safe delivery of all activities.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about nature, with a strong interest in conservation and environmental education. You should have experience, or a willingness to gain experience, in horticulture and working with young people. Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are vital for this role. Additionally, strong communication skills, the ability to speak in groups, and proficiency with office applications are essential.
Applicants who are also interested in our Ecology Internship role will be viewed favourably, as ideally both roles could be undertaken by the same candidate to create a full-time year-long extended internship. Both roles offer complementary experience across ecology, environmental education, and community engagement. However, you are very welcome to apply for either role on its own.
