Andover Trees United Recruiting Communications Lead to Support Growing Environmental Mission
Andover Trees United (ATU) has announced an exciting opportunity for a passionate communications professional to join the award-winning environmental charity as its new Publicity & Communications Lead.
The flexible freelance role, based in Andover with hybrid working available, will support ATU’s growing programme of environmental education, biodiversity restoration, volunteering and community engagement projects across the region. The lead will work alongside the leadership team including the founder, Wendy Davis, and Community Engagement Officer, Abbey Sadler.
Working three days per week until March 2027, the successful candidate will help lead communications, PR, social media, campaigns and membership engagement for the charity as it enters a new phase of growth and public awareness.
Since 2011, ATU has worked alongside schools, volunteers, local authorities, businesses and community groups to connect people with nature and inspire positive environmental action. Its work includes woodland creation and management, youth engagement, conservation volunteering and biodiversity initiatives such as the charity’s growing Disappearing Wildflowers campaign.
The new role has been created to help strengthen awareness of ATU’s mission and expand its supporter and membership community at a time when environmental education and nature recovery have never been more important.
The Communications, PR & Membership Lead will oversee website content, social media, newsletters, press and media relations, supporter communications and storytelling campaigns. The role will also support member recruitment, volunteer engagement and the promotion of events and fundraising activities.
ATU says the role would suit someone with experience in communications, PR, marketing, journalism or storytelling, particularly those with an interest in sustainability, biodiversity, environmental education or community engagement. The organisation is open to candidates already working freelance or those looking to build a standalone contract role around environmental communications.
The position has been made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Applications close on Friday 5th June, with interviews taking place during the week commencing 15th June.
