Community Tree & Wildflower Allotment

Not all the trees we source each year are used. In the early days of the project, we found growing room for them between planting seasons in our gardens and borrowed spaces. We were therefore delighted to have permission from Andover Town Council in 2018 to rent a plot on Vigo Road to run as a community allotment.

Thanks to Tesco Bags of Help funding, we were able to set up the allotment with a polytunnel and all-weather working space, sheds and tools, paths and planting beds. Following a Kew Gardens Grow Wild grant in 2019, our annual Sow, Grow, Plant initiative was launched to raise wildflowers from seed to aid the calcareous grassland restoration in the wood.

If you would like to join us, there are opportunities to join the regular Monday team of volunteers as well as a monthly 2nd Saturday team; time is split between the wood and the allotment.

Alternatively, we welcome keen gardeners to tend to the wildflowers April-September as part of the watering rota or independently, volunteering at times to suit them. With upwards of 3000 wildflowers to prick out and pot up, there is always plenty to do!
