Four Fun Fridays 2026
This summer, Andover Trees United takes part TVBC’s Four Fun Fridays in Andover High Street, bringing a little bit of nature, creativity and environmental learning into the heart of the community.
Across four fun-filled sessions, children are invited to explore different environmental themes through hands-on crafts and activities, discovering that protecting our planet can be creative, colourful and, most importantly, fun!
Free for all!
Here’s a look back at the adventures from this summer’s sessions — with plenty of creativity, sunshine, smiling faces and some very important messages along the way.
Freshwater Adventures
Friday 28th August
Our fourth and final Four Fun Fridays session took us on a journey In the River with the theme “Freshwater Adventures.”
Despite a last-minute location change and plenty of rain, it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces joining Abbey, Matt and Natalia for an afternoon of creativity and discovery.
Children created their own River Wildlife Mobiles, featuring some of the amazing creatures found in and around freshwater habitats, including newts, dragonflies, water fleas, leeches, trout, frogs and damselfly larvae.
The finished mobiles were fantastic and provided a colourful reminder of just how much wildlife depends on our rivers and freshwater habitats.
Our environmental message was simple: Healthy rivers support amazing wildlife and connect habitats across the landscape.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Four Fun Fridays this summer, and to all the volunteers who helped make each session possible. We’ve loved sharing these creative, nature-filled adventures with you!
Ocean Explorers
Friday 21st August
For our third Four Fun Fridays session, we headed beneath the waves with “In the Sea: Ocean Explorers.”
Abbey, Matt, Kanchi, Natalia and Liz helped children make two very special creations: Peace Doves for International Day of Peace and Ocean Bracelets made from recycled plastic carrier bags.
The children created beautiful doves carrying messages of peace for people, wildlife, oceans and our planet. These will later be displayed in Harmony Woods as part of a community installation for September’s UN International Day of Peace, continuing ATU’s connection with Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Peace Day and our Peace Dove processions.
Children also discovered how plastic carrier bags can be given a new life, transforming them into colourful bracelets instead of allowing them to end up in landfill and potentially our oceans.
It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces in the sunshine, with some truly amazing doves and bracelets!
Our message was an important one: healthy oceans need cooperation, kindness and peace. We all share one planet.
Mini Marvels
Friday 14th August
Our second Four Fun Fridays session celebrated the tiny creatures that play a huge role in our natural world with “Beetles, Bugs & Butterflies: Mini Marvels.”
Matt, Kanchi, Natalia, Liz and Abbey helped children create their own mini cardboard bug hotels and colourful bug finger puppets.
Children decorated their bug hotels before choosing a favourite mini beast — from butterflies and beetles to bees and grasshoppers — to create as a finger puppet.
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying the sunshine, and the finished bug hotels and puppets were fantastic!
Our environmental message was all about recognising just how important tiny creatures are. Minibeasts are essential pollinators and recyclers, helping keep ecosystems healthy and thriving.
Guardians of the Planet
Friday 7th August
Our first Four Fun Fridays session was all about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: “Guardians of the Planet” — and what a brilliant afternoon it was!
The team — Matt, Kanchi, Natalia, Gary and Liz — helped children turn clean recycled materials such as cardboard tubes, boxes, bottle tops and cartons into their very own Junk Model Eco-Heroes.
Each hero was given a special environmental superpower, from protecting trees and helping wildlife to cleaning rivers and reducing waste. The creativity on display was fantastic, with some truly amazing eco-heroes created in the sunshine!
A huge thank you to Doreen and Wendy for getting the kit and team safely to and from the High Street.
Our message was simple: small actions can make a big difference for nature and the planet.
